Our History
As a non-profit organization established in 2004.
1993-2004
OUR BEGINNINGS
Come to Him is a unique Christian ministry that originated in 1993 when the founder, James Chambers, found himself in jail. It was during that time that a friend shared the love of Christ with him, and his life was changed forever. Upon release, James felt called to help those coming out of prison and those who found themselves on the streets, with nowhere to go. In 2004, Come to Him was born and provided transitional living, food, transportation, job help, counseling and more to people in Eastern Los Angeles and Northern Orange County.
2004-2021
OUR GROWTH
Over the years, CTH has helped over 1000 people and has evolved into a network of people who seek to transform lives and communities. It operates its mercy ministry through two Christian transitional living homes which have a total of 12 rooms and can house up to 30 residents. This couldn't be done without the countless volunteers who help with job training, mentorship, child care, and more.
PRESENT
OUR MISSION CONTINUES
In April 2021 God called James home where he was undoubtedly greeted with the phrase "Well done, my good and faithful servant." The work that James started continues as those in need are making the choice to "Come to Him." With Nancy Marriott as Executive Director working alongside Kay Chambers and Bob Collier we look forward to reaching another 1000+ people with the hope of Jesus.
